What are respiratory disorders?

The disorders which are related to respiratory tract are respiratory disorders. There are numbers of people affected with respiratory disorders. 


Most common cause:


The respiratory disorders are due to more concentration of air pollutants not only on cities but also on rural atmosphere.


Types of respiratory disorders:


There are five type of respiratory disorders include:


Bronchitis

Emphysema 

Pneumonia 

Asthma 

Lung cancer 


BRONCHITIS:

                      Bronchitis is a disease of bronchi or bronchioles. It is due excessive secretions of mucous into tubes leading into the swelling of tubular wall and narrowing of tubes.

Causes:

It is caused by viruses,bacteria or exposure to some chemical irritants. e.g:(tobacco smoke)

Types:

Chronic bronchitis

Acute bronchitis


Acute bronchitis:

Acute bronchitis usually lasts about two weeks and patient recovers with no permanent damage of bronchi and bronchioles


Chronic bronchitis:

Chronic bronchitis develop chronic inflimation. It usually lasts about for three months to two years.


Symptoms:

It includes:

Cough

Mild wheezing,fever

Chills and shortness of breath(especially whilst doing tough activity)


Emphysema:


Emphysema is the destruction of walls of alveoli.It bring about larger sacs however with much less floor location for gaseous trade.As lung tissue break down,the lungs do not come back to their original form after exhalation.So air cannot be driven out and is trapped in the lungs.


Symptoms:

                      It include shortness breadth,fatigue,recurrent respiratory infections and weight loss. By the time the symptoms of emphysema appear, the patient has usually lost 50% to 70% of his/ her lung tissue.The level of oxygen in blood may get so low that it causes serious complications.

Asthma:


Asthma is a form of allergy, in which there is inflammation of bronchi, more mucous production and narrowing of the airways.In asthma patients, the bronhi and bronchioles become sensetive of different allergens (allergy causing factor) e.g dust, smoke, perfumes, pollens etc.When exposed to any of such allergens, the sensitive airways show immediate and excessive respones of constriction.In this condition, the patient feels difficulty in breathing. 


Symptoms:

                  Its major symptoms include shortness of breath(especially with exertion or at night)

Wheezing(whistling sound when breathing out)

Cough and chest tightness

 

Treatment:


The chemical with capacity to dilate the bronchi and bronchioles are used inside the remedy of asthma. Such drug treatments are given in the shape of inhalers.


Lung Cancer:


Lung cancer is a disease of controlled cell division in the tissue of the lung. The cell continue to divide without any control and form tumours.  The cell increase may additionally invade adjacent tissue beyond the lungs.


Symptoms:

The maximum common symptoms are shortness of breath,coughing(which include coughing up blood) and weight loss.


Causes:

The major reasons of any most cancers include cancer causing agents(along with those in cigarette smoke), ionizing radiation and viral contamination. Smoking is the principle purpose of lung cancer.This risk of lung cancer is significantly lower in non smoker. Cigarette smoke consists of over 50 recognised carcinogens.

Anti-cancer Radiation(Radiotherapy)

Anti-cancer medicine (Chemotherapy)
